More Than a Name — A Family Legacy ⚓

Behind every boat name is a story. And behind the Apalachee Girl is the legacy of a hardworking waterman, a devoted family man, and a man of unwavering faith — Quention Creamer.

Quention spent his life working the waters of the Florida Gulf Coast. From scalloping and oystering to shrimping, the water was more than his livelihood. It was a part of who he was.

Throughout his lifetime, he owned several steel-hulled boats, each carrying a name that held a special place in his family's story.

His first, the Lady Martha, was named in honor of his beloved wife, Martha.

His second, the Apalachee Girl, was built in 1988 by a steel boatbuilding company and named in honor of his three daughters — his girls. Even while working the waters he loved, his family was always close to his heart.

Then came the Capt. Walter B, named in honor of his father, carrying another generation of family history across the water.

And finally, the Apalachee Warrior. While the meaning behind this name is not known for certain, his daughter likes to believe it reflected something deeply rooted in her daddy's life — his strength, perseverance, and steadfast faith in the Lord.

Quention answered to many names — Daddy, Pawpaw, Pop, husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He was a man's man. Strong, hardworking, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need.

His love for the Lord, his family, and the water carried him throughout his life.

He made his living on the water, but his greatest treasures were always waiting for him on shore.

Quention left behind far more than a fleet of boats. He left a legacy of faith, love, hard work, and family — one that continues through his children, grandchildren, and generations yet to come.

Today, that legacy takes on a new chapter with Apalachee Girl Co., a business inspired by the boat that once proudly carried the name of his three daughters.

What began as a father's tribute to his girls has now become a granddaughter's way of honoring her family's roots and keeping a treasured name alive.

The boats may no longer travel the waters as they once did, but the love behind their names will never fade.

Oh, how he is loved. Oh, how he is missed. And oh, what a beautiful legacy he left behind.
